Our very own Flick is having her beautiful long hair shaved off in support of her friend Lynsey who is currently undergoing chemotherapy - and for Macmillan Cancer Support. (By the way.. quite a few people have said they'd rather pay her to keep her locks) but she is going through with it on the 26th March 2011 - venue to be decided.

We met a lot of lovely Bride & Grooms to be, one couple who were to be wed in Tenerife (and who loved our guys) - Dave did suggest we drop by for the Wedding.... and have a wee holiday too.. whataguy!

It was fun - so if anyone needs a Guard of Honour and/or a Wedding Toastmaster/Celebrant with a difference, get in touch!

Rolf Harris has teamed up with Status Quo to record 'Christmas In The Sun'! I hope he makes it to number 1!

Rolf, a lovely man in real life, was kind enough to tell his story (when, as a young man, he worked at the asbestos mine at the notorious Wittenooon and his fathers death due to asbestos exposure) in our publication 'No-one Knows What I'm Going Through (The Secret Plague of Asbestos)' which is available directly through us or at amazon or book shops etc.. published by Dalriaidan (Community)

The signed document which allowed the Glencoe Massacre of 1692 to go ahead has been put on display at the National Library of Scotland. It is part of a display of various Scottish documents including the Rabbie Burns poem 'The Battle of Sherrifmuir' - for more details visit their website.

What a great time everyones had! Thanks to all cast & crew - our boys & girls had a lot of fun and there was such a good atmosphere on set - no egos or tantrums!! Yayoo!!??!?!? Can't wait to see the final film. Here's a wee bit of film I took... the Vikings moved so fast I missed the begining but hear Mark II scream... haha :)

Bannockburn

Some of us have just visited the Bannockburn Heritage Centre and watched the film the guys were involved in. The centre's pretty basic, although they had costumes & chain mail lying around which a few visiting kids enjoyed dressing up in... I realised I was 'helping' them .. saying things like.. you put the gambeson on first.. then the coif.. and suggesting they stand beside the full life models of Bruce etc.. for their photos.. then realising I didn't work there... haha.. I can't help it!!

The film was about 10 minutes long (if that) but was really good. It was brill to see the guys on the screen and actually to see the face of people you know taking part is fantastic! The guides for Historic Scotland 2009 which are out now have also got our guys in them - pics from Bannockburn - yeahhhh!!!!

Mystery Files 2009 Wales

Shooting down in Wales and having a fantastic time! Thanks to all the guys & gals who went down and to the cast & crew on set for all the fun and for making this shoot such a pleasant experience! Also thanks to the two young lads in that hotel who let our guys eat their carry out in the bar.. and gave them a room for the night - better than trying to put a tent up in a monsoon!! - hope you enjoyed dressing up in chain mail and thanks for the beer!!

We hope to see everyone soon - anything you need - we're there!!! We've all had a blast and its so good to work with dedicated, professional people who like a laugh too!!! We're really looking forward to seeing the results!

2009 Wasted

Some of the younger ones are portraying orphans in this film. They got to have a food fight! It's a bit grown up, gritty and NOT a film for wee ones. Drug abuse etc... It's at the Edinburgh Film Festival. Carolin Paterson was very nice to the kids at the casting. I hope it does well. Being a Weegie myself I've seen things I'd rather forget... but it's out there!

2009 Culloden

Mad people doing a 3 day walk recreating the retreat of the Jacobites from Culloden in 1746. Authentic gear, shoes, food, wild camping. Then they go and do an over night march the same week! Well done to Ian, Callum, Dave, Paul, Andy, Rusty & Raymond (& Dave F for the overnighter). There's a film on youtube and Getty seemed to like them.. especially big hairy Callum! His pictures are everywhere. BBC coverage too.

2009 Valhalla Rising

The guys were up a mountain for 6 weeks! Freezing cold, wet, windy.. food was good. The gals were up a bit of a hill doing some nasty scenes involving a pillaged village. Traumatising??? Guys.. you had it easy!

The advert is out now, I'm hoping it'll be good but I'm honestly a bit worried. The females they picked for some scenes were about 18 and the men about 45-65... doesnt quite match imo The ladies of the village in power would have been ages with the men, and grown up. And woe betide any young thing that tried to take their place! Now there's a scene they should've filmed!!!! Then again, the market their aiming for is males aged 18-25...

The adverts out and it looks good - it's nice to hear Scottish voices on film for a start and it looks moody and dark.... but that's the point!!!

2009 Centurion

Got some guys on Centurion filming in Scotland. We've got loads of guys who'd be perfect Picts but they wanted Romans! (They're filming the Pictish scenes in England.. hmmm)

So our Romans spent ages practising formations then the director decided not to use it!! Some of our 'real' Romans have pointed out that the banners etc are not historically correct.. eek! These guys know their stuff..

Never mind, it's entertainment!! Looking forward to the film...

Filming a new TV Advert which has a bit of a cult following in Europe & abroad - William Lawson's Cannonballs! Great sunny day, a lot of laughs and the hunks they used they brought up from London, male models whom the make up ladies had a very enjoyable time covering in cream.. haha

2008 Culloden

The guys did filming for the new visitor centre and it was f r e e z i n g cold, one guy got taken off the moor .. hyperthermia approaching! The films are really good and are now on at the centre.

We got an invite to the official opening and it was a very posh 'do' with tartan, highland dancers and Clann An Drumma playing.

2007 Made of Honour

Filming Highland Games scenes on the Isle of Skye. It was sunny & hot. We didn't get to make up or hair so we all got sun burned and one lad had a bit of sun stroke.. eek! Hilarious in the morning when we got up at the campsite and got dressed, this wee old couple had camped in the middle of us and woke up to Brigadoon.... haha

Patrick Demsey was charming and had a sense of humour. He even made fun of himself and the script "this is as good as it gets" and "my acting's no better than these lines".. and he must have felt daft in that mini kilt! Kevin McKidd was talkative and approachable.. and seemed to enjoy the company of the lads & lassies beside him, he kept coming over for a blether. No ego there.

It's a chick flick. We went (dressed up) to the premier in Inverness and had a laugh - no famous people though, just us and some great guys from Skye Ferries etc who were on the film. Good fun!

2006 The Glencoe Massacre

A great weekend filming up in Kingussie with a great bunch of people. The Glencoe Massacre is being made for BBC TV and I got to play the wife of Clan Chief MacDonnell of Glencoe - yes we died!! Amazingly I'm related to her in real life, all that intermarriage between the MacDonalds, Keppochs & Camerons... most of the women who died at Glencoe were Camerons who married into this village.

Didnt enjoy the grey plastic gunk they put on my hair, it was spray stuff and it took over 2 hours to comb it out... horrible stuff!!! Kind of weird being dragged about, shoved about and getting a gun in the face.. the things you do....

Where Creativity Thrives!

What began several years ago as an idea became a reality in 2005 when a group of like-minded people got together to have a bit of fun and to promote Scottish customs, folklore & community.

We began by publishing some material for local people, people who the 'big boys' in the publishing world would never look at and those the 'private publishers' would charge a fortune for... We published (and still do) private books & documents, life stories, recipes, poems.. anything.. at cost price. However, if it's a good subject and written well, we will get it into the shops and onto amazon etc..

Eventually we became more & more involved in entertainment, films, TV and we've done a few things (either individually or as the group) all over the UK.

It's been a lot of fun!

Dalriadian is where creativity thrives and anything goes!
